Lady Captain's Day 

Congratulations to Karen Pennington for winning Lady Captain's Day with a fine 39 points, with Sue Kendrick a close second with 36 points and Celia Berent coming third with 33 points.


Club Championship 

Unfortunately the weather got the better of us on Saturday, heavy rain led to the course being unplayable late in the afternoon. This will be replayed on Saturday, 20 August.


Dunham Forest Trophy 

This Sunday sees up play the second round of the Manchester Alliance Dunham Forest Trophy match against Breightmet Golf Club at home. We tee off at 1.30pm.


 

US Open Sweepstake

How has Karen changed her swing? 

Karen has been working hard on her swing over the past couple of months and it is now paying dividends with her latest win in Lady Captain's Day, lowering her handicap by two shots. In the past Karen has always had a tendency to hit the ball to the left due to a steep, out to in swing (see 'before' picture below). This also caused a loss of distance.

     

As you can see in the 'after' picture on the right, Karen is now swinging the club down on a good swing plane, leading to more distance and straighter shots.
