Vice Presidents' Challenge Bowl
A full field contested the VP's Challenge Bowl over a course still suffering from the aftermath of Friday's downpours. There was still a lake alongside the 7th with very soft conditions under foot.
With some excellent scoring, the winner was Mike Easton with gross 81 - 16 = 63 nett.
Bob Anderson also returned a nett 63 (77-14) but lost on a count back.
A very creditable third was Tom Troup (junior) gross 77 - 12 = 65 nett
The leading VP and winner of the VPs' prize was Paul Penney, who matched Tom's nett 65 (71 - 6).
Ladies EWGA Medal Congratulations to Julie Ricketts for winning the ladies EWGA Medal with a nett 75, Mo Monk came second with a nett 76.
Special Visitors at Alderley Edge Golf Club
On arriving at the club at 8am on Thursday morning, I was greeted by some special guests, a horse and two Shetland ponies...
I was later informed there was also a goat running around too.
Luckily there was not too much damage caused to the course, and thank you to the local residents who assisted with rounding them up.
New K-Vest Updates - Wrist Drills now available
For those of you who have not used the K-Vest yet, there are regular updates made with new activities added to help you understand and improve your golf swing. In this section I am going to talk about the role of the wrists at the top of the swing and how the K-Vest can help you get in the right position.
The position of the wrists at the top of the swing has a direct effect on the angle of the clubface throughout the swing and an indirect effect of the plane of your swing. Below you will see a 'Before and After' picture of Leigh's position at the top of the swing.
Before
As you will see in this picture, Leigh's club has not only travelled past parallel, but the clubface is also in a slightly open position. This is caused by the cupping of his left wrist. From here it is incredibly difficult to get the club onto plane efficiently in the downswing leading to an inconsistent ball flight.
After
As you can now see, Leigh's club is in a better position at the top of the swing due to his left wrist being in a flatter position. From here it is much easier to get the club onto a good swing plane in the downswing.
How can the K-vest wrist drills help you to make this change?
For those of you who have never used the K-vest before, when you get your body (or now wrists) into the correct position, music plays. This is a form of biofeedback which helps to speed up the learning process, giving you better value for money in your lessons. In relation to the two pictures above, Leigh did not hear any music in the 'before' picture but did hear the music in the 'after' picture.
Come and try the K-vest
