Once again the course was affected by very wet conditions, which got worse during the day and resulted in standing water on several greens in the afternoon.
The winner of this prestigious trophy with a fantastic score of 64 playing off 24 - and playing on his birthday - was Pete Burns. Congratulations!
Andy Marshall was runner up with a 66, followed by Oliver Lane (67) and Craig Aston (67).

Struggling with inconsistent ball striking?
This week I thought I would write about golfers who struggle to strike the golf ball consistently. I have used Andy as an example below. He came for a lesson because he was striking the ground before the ball or catching the top of the ball.
The primary reason for Andy suffering these problems was his "early release" or "casting" the club in the downswing. This is when he unhinges his wrists early in the downswing. The result is the club reaching its lowest point too early in the downswing, before the ball rather than after the ball.
As you can see in the 'before' picture, Andy has unhinged his wrists about a foot before the ball, leading to heavy or thin shots. As you can see in the 'after' picture, Andy's wrists have not unhinged until later in the swing making it less likely for him to hit the ground before the ball.
