Although the early players were able to start in the dry, steady rain meant a soggy round.
However, by mid afternoon, flooded greens caused the competition to be abandoned.
Under CONGU rules, returned scores for an abandoned competition count for handicap purposes, but on the basis of reduction only. 'HowdidIdo' has emailed out the competition scores for completed rounds and an updated master handicap list will be placed on the noticeboard.
The Gents Golf Committee will try to arrange a re-run but there is very little of the season left to fit it in.
Technology Update - Single Length Irons
Bryson Dechambeau has recently come onto the scene on the PGA Tour and plays with a set of irons that are all the same length, lie angle, weight and flex. This allows him to have exactly the same swing with each club, without having to alter the ball position.
It makes sense doesn't it?
Doug thought so and came for a fitting and did some testing. The grouping of his shots was exceptional and the distances he was hitting were no different from his other clubs, even with the 4 and 5 irons!
Struggle with your long irons? Why not book in for a fitting?
If you have always struggled with anything below a 7 iron, this may be a good option for you. All the irons are the length of your current 8 iron!
Why not click here to book a fitting and see if they suit you? Alternatively give us a call on 01625 586200 (Ext 2).
How did Sean change his swing?
Sean has been coming for lessons to try and eliminate his slice. Very quickly we noticed that the cause of this was the clubface being too open throughout the swing. In order to change this we first of all went about giving Sean a slight stronger grip. From there, we worked on getting his left wrist in a flatter position at the top of the swing, which also helped him to get the clubface more closed.
As you can see in the two pictures above, halfway through the downswing the clubface is more closed after the changes mentioned above which is now allowing him to hit the ball further and straighter.
