Harold Humphreys Trophy
The Captain thanked Jerry Dixon for donating the new Harold Humphrey's Trophy and congratulated this year's winner Rick Ford who scored an excellent nett 62 (73 - 11).
In second place on countback was Tom Troup nett 66 (75-9) with Paul Gosling third also nett 66 (88-22).
Jerry Dixon reminded the members that Harold Charles Humhreys, who was born in 1902, was a key member of AEGC in the early years and was a very young captain at the age of 36. He was an excellent amateur golfer. Harold started the Umbro sports business from a small space at the Bulls Head pub in Mobberley before moving to larger premises in Wilmslow.
The Captain was also able to congratulate previous winners of this competition which was introduced in the Centenary Year (2007).
Mr President's Prize to the Ladies
This was won aptly by Gwyn, our Lady President, with 39 points. Olwen followed with 35 points and just behind her was Mary scoring 34 points.
A very good day was had by all and the ladies were very well looked after by Mr president.

How did Simon improve his distance and consistency?
Simon has recently started having lessons in order to improve his game. His main problem was the inconsistency in the strike. Sometimes he would hit the ground before the ball and sometimes he would hit thin shots.
After the initial observation and analysis we started to work on creating a wider arc to the swing. As you can see in the 'before' picture at the top of the swing Simon has bent his left arm leading to a narrower arc being created. Not only does this lead to inconsistent striking but it also causes a loss of distance.
As you can see in the 'after' picture, Simon is now managing to maintain a straight left arm throughout the swing leading to more consistency. You will also notice that the club has not gone as far back in the 'after' picture. This has made it easier for Simon to get his body rotating more efficiently in the downswing.
If you would like to improve your swing like Simon, please click here to book a lesson. We offer an introductory lesson for all new customers for £9.99.
