How has Martin Changed his Swing?
Martin has been coming for lessons in an effort to improve his ball striking and the distance he hits the ball. Fairly quickly we noticed he was swinging the club down on a steep angle which was leading to an early release and an out-to in club path. The result of this was a high and weak ball flight.
In order to change this, the best place for us to start was the position at the top. As you can see in the 'before' picture, Martin's left wrist has 'cupped' leading to the clubface being too open and going too far back.
As you can see in the 'after' picture, Martin now has his left wrist in a flatter position, making the swing shorter and making it easier for him to get the club swinging down on a better swing plane. This is also allowing Martin to strike the ball better and hit it further.
