The Greens

Whilst playing in the Winter League on Sunday I noticed how good the greens are for mid-November, obviously the weather has been kind to us in September and October but well done to Les and his team for maintaining the quality of them until this late in the year.

On the Course...

A rather wet Friday night led to the Saturday competition being cancelled due to the course being closed, the Pro Shop Stableford goes ahead as usual this Saturday.

Winter League

Sunday in contrast was a glorious morning and saw us play the third round of the Winter League. The Vice Captain and I took on Mike and Peter Davies. We managed to get off to a fast start and maintained our lead for the rest of the round eventually winning 5 and 4.

Net week we are taking on team Anderson, Gosling, Dibble, Foden and Ford. We look forward to taking you on.

How has Tony improved his ball striking?

Tony has been working hard on improving his ball striking. He has a tendency to strike the ground before the ball or hit thin shots. After the initial observation we could see that he lacked hip rotation in the downswing (only 18 degrees at impact) which was causing this problem.

After carrying out a few simple physical exercises to help Tony separate his hip and shoulder rotation, he was able to transfer the feeling across to the golf swing and was able to add 28 degrees of hip turn by impact making more likely that he would strike the ball well.
