Unfortunately Saturday's competition had to be cancelled as there were two groups left on the course when the fog came in.
Nevertheless well done to Gerald Tatlock for scoring 22 points on temporary greens.
Last Sunday the Vice Captain and I took on Andy Wells and Gavin Elly. We had a really tight game with us halving the first seven holes before Andy broke the deadlock with a 3 nett 2 on the 8th.
We managed to win the 4th, 5th and 6th with birdies to go two up before Gavin birdied the 16th. Andy hit his tee shot on the 17th to about 15 feet and I followed him in to three feet. Unfortunately I did not get a chance to putt as Andy holed his but for a two nett one!
The 18th was halved in pars for an all square result. Thanks for the game Andy and Gavin it was really enjoyable.
League Table
Top team Hall/Burns/Ricketts/Ricketts/Broome lost which has allowed The Vice Captain and I's team of Featherstone/Wood/Broughton/Yakub/Yakub to get within one point of them.
How has Ben changed his swing?
Ben has transformed the way he hits the ball over the past few months adding a lot of distance and curing his slice. We have now started working on improving his consistency through moving his body more efficiently.
Ben's main issue has been the way he moves his hips in the backswing. He has what is known as a 'reverse pivot'. This is when the left hip drops down too low in the backswing. This makes it very difficult to turn the body efficiently in the downswing.
As you can see in the 'before' picture and K-Vest data below. Ben's left hip is dropping 15 degrees lower than his right.
After working with the Dynamic Visual Training software on the K-Vest, ben is now managing to keep his left hip much higher at the top of the backswing. This is allowing him to rotate his hips through earlier and faster in the downswing which is leading to a more consistent strike.
