Ladies Opening Sides
The ladies were divided into two teams, one for the Lady Captain and one for the Lady Vice-Captain (in the absence of lady president), in a greensomes competition. This was followed by a sit down meal in the clubhouse.
The Lady Captain welcomed everyone especially all the new members to the club who had come to join us for lunch. She presented Helen Williams with a silver salver for winning the winter league competition with Barbara Moss coming second. Celia Berent was presented with a ball marker clip as part of having the best 4 EWGA medal scores for last year. Celia is invited to play in the regional final at Windermere Golf Club.
The climax of the day was the announcement of which team had won today, the Lady Captain's team had 2 wins but the LVC team had 4 wins so the wooden spoon was presented to LC.
Gents Opening Sides
Unfortunately the weather got the better of this, although the meal went ahead as usual in the evening. Thanks to Chris and his team for an excellent meal.

How has Luke changed his swing?
Luke has been working hard on his swing over the past 6 months and has seen some massive improvements. He initially suffered from a slice caused by an 'over the top' downswing and an open clubface as can be seen in the 'before' picture. This caused a lack of distance and inconsistent striking.
After changing Luke's grip and grip pressure, Luke is now finding it much easier to close the clubface in the downswing. As a result of this he has found it easier to flatten out his swing plane, which is leading to more distance and consistency as can be seen in the table below.
| Clubhead Speed | Ball Speed | Carry Distance | Total Distance |
Before | 64.3 | 81.1 | 83 | 115 |
After | 72.1 | 95.1 | 127 | 143 |
