Lady Captain's Day
The weather was dry and warm for Lady Captain's Day last Tuesday. LC, Yvonne Grundy welcomed the ladies and watched them tee off. They then enjoyed a glass of Pimms and nibbles at the 9th hole and returned in the evening for a lovely meal and presentation.
Olwen Davies was the winner with 36 points, Wendy Rule was second on 34 points and Anne Thornber third with 33 points just beating Alison Roberts on a card playoff.
Nearest the pin was won by Alison, nearest the line by Marion. Mary Beckett was the ladies 9 hole winner with Eileen coming second.
Gent's Stableford
Congratulations to Paul Gosling for winning the Gent's Stableford with a fantastic score of 45 points! A well deserved win for someone who works so hard on their game. Take a look below to see how Paul has changed his swing.
I would imagine Nige Howells thought he would be close to winning but on this occasion his 40 points was not enough. Nevertheless an excellent score Nige, well played.
PGA National Pro-Am Regional Final - This Tuesday
Some of you may remember I held a competition a couple of months ago, the winner plays with me in a Pro Am. Steve Bennett was the winner and we are playing in the event this Tuesday. Steve is obviously in good form since his win, I have been hitting the ball nicely, and just need to get the putter going. Hopefully next Tuesday will be the day!

How has Paul Changed his Swing?
Paul has been working hard at improving his swing over the winter and is now seeing the benefits! Paul has always suffered from a lack of distance due to inconsistent striking. As you can see in the 'before' picture, Paul released the club very early which leads to fats and thins as well as returning to impact with too much loft on the club leading to a high ball flight that did not go very far.
After changing his grip and position at the top of the swing, Paul is now able to prevent such an early release or cast, which has dramatically improved his strike and distance.
