EWGA Medal

Congratulations to Sue Freeman for winning the EWGA Medal last Tuesday with a Nett 71. Olwen Davies, Gwyneth Holt and Wendy Rule came second with Nett 73’s. Take a look below to see how Sue has changed her swing.


Gent’s Progressive Stableford

Congratulations to Ed Clapham, Ian Pearce, Phil Mason and Dan Featherstone for winning the Progressive Stableford with a score of 96 points. Mike Blundell, Mike O’Regan, Jan Cichocki and Mike Davies came second with 93 points.

Golf and a Giggle – Friday, 15 September

This event is great fun, a golfer invites a non-golfer to come up to the club and do the putting for them apart from on the 6th hole where the non-golfer hits the tee shot and the golfer does the putting. The sign-up sheet is in the locker room so get your name down now!

How has Sue changed her Swing?

Sue came to me a couple of months ago wanting to lower her scores so we set about looking into possible ways to do this. The two main areas that were causing problems were:

a) An out to in swing causing a lack of consistency
b) A lack of distance

Following some initial analysis the K-Vest showed us that Sue was only turning her hips 19 degrees in the backswing. As a result of this her shoulders were not turning leading to her taking the club up on a vertical angle as can be seen in the ‘before’ picture.

As you can see in the ‘after’ picture, Sue is now taking the club back on a flatter angle which is also encouraging her to bring the club back down on a flatter angle leading to more consistency and a lot more distance.
