Last Saturday was my Professional's Prize Day. Firstly I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who took part, it was great to see the sheet full with 90 people playing!
First prize went to Andy Wells with 40 points. Gavin Elly finished second with Steve Ridal in third both on 39 points. Other notable performances came from Mike Blundell who had a hole in one on the 6th hole. Dan Featherstone won the putting competition with a score of 15 (5 under par).
Congratulations to
Julie Ricketts for winning the Ladies Stableford with a score of 36 points. Her handicap has now been reduced to 35.
Alison Roberts and
Diana Prow came second and third both with 33 points.
Wilmslow Show
Last weekend was the Wilmslow show at Wilsmlow High School and Alderley Edge Golf Club had a stand.
A special thanks to my Assistant Pro, Paul, who not only organised our stand but helped to build and remove it from the show. Paul also did a great job in setting up all our visitors so they could have a few swings and attempt to hit the bullseye or chip into the pockets of the practice net.
Thanks also to Chris Hills for his support plus all the member volunteers including Lady Captain and Mr Captain.
Also thanks to Mark Walker for the use of his gazebo.
How did Ben Eccleston change his swing?
Ben has been working hard at his game over the past couple of months and is now seeing the rewards - dropping his handicap from 14 to 12 in the last two competitions.
Ben came to me struggling from a loss of distance. This was mainly due to a tendency to slice the ball and hit the ball very high. We have changed a couple of areas of his swing including his grip and his left wrist position at the top of the swing.
As you can see below, this has helped him to get to a better position at impact leading to a lower and straighter ball flight.
These swing changes have helped him to achieve the following improvements in his Flightscope data readings:

Junior Summer Camps 2014
This summer, Alderley Edge Golf Club will be hosting a series of Junior Summer Camps. These camps will be for juniors aged 9 and upwards and will run from 10am to 4pm on the following dates:

Monday 11th August
Thursdays 14th August
Monday 18th August
Thursday 21st August
The cost for the day will be £40 including lunch provided at the Golf Club and all use of the facilities. The days will involve coaching, skill challenges and games designed ultimately to help your son/daughter develop their golfing ability.
