Competition results

Gent’s Closing Sides

A great day was had by all last Saturday as the Captain’s Team took on the President’s Team. The Captain and I took on the President. We had great fun, the Captain was on top form and was using his newly custom fitted PING driver with amazing results. We ended up winning the match 4&3.

Overall the President’s team came out on top by 11 matches to 4! Well done Mr President!

Club news

New President & Vice-Captain

The announcement of the new President and Vice-Captain were also made on Saturday night. Paul Penney will be next year’s President and Bob Anderson will be stepping into Pete Wood’s shoes as the Vice-Captain. I am sure both of you are going to do a great job and I am looking forward to working with you both over the next 12 months.

What do you take from this?

As golfers, there's nothing more satisfying than a shot which is perfectly executed - even if it is a rare occurrence for many of us. It could be a booming drive which splits the fairway down the middle, or maybe a wedge shot which stops dead, two feet away from the hole. In fact, when you consider how often we use our wedges during a round of golf - see the graph below - the latter is something that we should all be striving to achieve.

So, what do you take from the graph above? In our eyes, it highlights just how important your short game is. We see a lot of you spending time hitting balls on the range, which is great, but don't neglect the less glamorous side of the game when practising - it's where your score is 'made'.
