Congratulations to Tim Hoare for winning the second round of the Simister Cup with a score of 22 points.

Winter League 

Last Sunday was the first week of our winter league with 18 teams battling it out in great conditions after a heavy night's rain. Thank you to everyone who attended the presentation and ball draw afterwards, it is nice to see the club so busy on a Sunday. I am pleased to say that the Vice Captain and I won our match - we will see how long we can keep the winning run going!

How has Mike Fox cured his slice and added 30 yards?

Mike has been working hard at his game this year and is really seeing the benefits. When Mike First came for a lesson with me earlier in the year we identified his lack of distance being caused by his left to right ball flight as the main part of his game we needed to improve.

As you can see in the pictures below, Mike had a cupped left wrist at the top of the swing which was causing his clubface to be in a very open position. For this reason, Mike's natural reaction in the down swing was to swing 'over the top' causing a slice.

As you can see in the picture on the right, Mike now has a flatter left wrist. This has put the clubface in a more closed position at the top helping him to swing the club down on a better plane.

The Vice Captain and I are playing Mike in the winter league this Sunday so I think we will need to bring out our 'A' games to win!
