Golf as usual at Alderley Edge... Having sought guidance from the EGU and other golf clubs in the area and balanced this with government advice, AEGC wishes to enforce some enhanced protocol to help combat the spread of Covid-19. Firstly, let’s remind ourselves that golf is one of the healthiest options as regards sporting activities in these current times. Abundant fresh air and plenty of opportunity for social distancing yet remaining an important means of exercise and social interaction. We are not discouraging anyone from enjoying a round of golf amongst friends or indeed using our facilities however, it is important that we all show a duty of care to each other.
Therefore, we ask you all to please follow these guidelines; - Anyone who has returned from a foreign country within the last 14-days should not enter the clubhouse.
- No-one should be present at the golf club if they have either a fever or a new cough – they should be in home isolation for a minimum of 7 days.
- When entering the clubhouse at any time, please wash your hands meticulously first with the anti-bacterial wash provided in the changing rooms, before anything else. Repeat this process regularly if staying for a prolonged period.
- Daily cleaning will take place in the Clubhouse as it is possible that someone may become infected by touching a surface, object or the hand of an infected person that has been contaminated and then touching their own mouth, nose, or eyes.
- The principle of social distancing should be applied as best practice i.e. no handshakes, fist bumps, kisses or hugs.
- When playing a round of golf, all players should leave the flagstick in the cup, thereby reducing person-to-person contact via that medium.
- If the government requires all over-70s, their nominated carers or indeed other vulnerable groups to self-isolate at home, potentially for up to 12 weeks, AEGC wishes to support our members, who may be impacted by this in an appropriate manner. We encourage you to speak with our Club Secretary who can discuss your personal circumstances and potential options.
- With immediate effect, we need to discourage any social event, irrespective of the number of people until further notice. If you have a function or gathering booked with us, then we will be happy to look for alternative dates in the future and accommodate your needs.
Thank you for respecting our guidelines – we are trying to act in these difficult times, in the best interests of you – our members, visitors and staff. We will be happy to answer any questions that you may have. This protocol is based on current advice that can change quickly, therefore updates will be issued as and when needed.
