Congratulations to Bill Bennett Jnr for winning round six of the Simister Cup with a score of 38 points. A great reward for the hard work Bill has been putting into his game over the winter! Other notable performances came from Steve Yakub, Phil Mason and Dave Snell who all had 37.

How has Phil Mason Changed his swing?

After seeing some of his playing partners start to shoot lower scores than him, Phil decided to have a course of lessons to improve his swing. Phil had a couple of bad habits that were costing him distance and consistency.

Firstly he had a tendency to straighten his right leg excessively in the backswing. This caused him to sway on the way back and prevented him from rotating correctly in the downswing. As you can see in the picture on the right, he now maintains the flex in his right leg well.

   

Secondly, Phil's club was in an "across the line" position at the top of the backswing. This made it incredibly hard for him to bring the club down on a consistent plane. Now you will see the club is in a better position at the top, Phil is benefitting from better ball striking.
