I am writing this week's newsletter with a nice relaxing view over the sea from our hotel in Greece after our wedding on Saturday. It was great to see many of you at the club last Sunday after our wedding, so many thanks for your support.
Congratulations to Yvonne Grundy for winning the ladies stableford with a score of 37 points. 17 teams of four played in cool and windy conditions.
Scoring for the minor positions was close, with 3 points separating 2nd, 3rd and 4th.
Runners up with 87 points were Steve Yakub, J Yakub, Dave Snell and Harrison Peck, but the clear winners on 92 points were Luke Foden, Max Penney, Chris Hills and Mick Fleury - congratulations to them.
Congratulations also to Steve Yakub for a hole-in-one on the 15th!
Time for a cliché…
Well, that's Augusta done for another year and whilst the famous back nine didn't produce the type of drama it has done in years gone by, that was because 21-year-old Jordan Spieth refused to play any part in making it tense. What a display it was.
There was much to admire about his game, but at the risk of boring you with a cliché, 'It's all about the short game'! Yes, he was long and accurate off the tee and his putting was fantastic. However, the shots slip away very quickly at somewhere like Augusta and it wasn't just Spieth who scrambled well when he had to; that final leaderboard was ultimately a list of golfers who, during the week, had that unerring ability to get the ball up and down time and time again.
We can't promise you a Green Jacket but spend some time with us to work on your short game and you won't half notice the difference in your scoring. You know where to find us...or click here to book your lesson.
