Gent's Invitation Day
This year's Invitation Day was well attended by members and guests, with the sunny weather contributing to some good scoring. The main invitation pair's competition was won by Jamie McGregor and his guest S Cook with 41 points, on a card playoff from Tom Troup and B Jackson. Third place went to Keith Doyle and S Smith with a score of 36 points.
The members' subsidiary pair's competition was won by Oliver Lane and Simon Barber on 39 points, just edging out Mike Fox and Phil Mason on a card playoff. Two teams scored 40 points but forfeited the winner's prize as neither of them attended the presentation or offered their apologies to Mr Captain.
Mr Captain's Prize to the Ladies
A good field of ladies went out on Tuesday, those playing in the afternoon certainly having the best weather playing in lovely sunshine.
Mr Captain treated everyone to a cooling glass of Pimms after 9 holes which was very welcome.
In the evening the ladies came back for the presentation. In the absence of the Lady Captain, Marion introduced Mr Captain to the ladies who were enjoying another yet another drink on behalf of the Captain.
The winner of the competition with 39 points was Wendy Rule playing off 11 but now reduced to 10.2, followed by Lisa Burns with 37 points playing off 22 and also on 37 was Marion Hall playing off 16.
The nearest the pin on the 6th was Helen Edwards and on the 13th was Lisa Burns.
Marion thanked Mr Captain for an enjoyable day and generous prizes.
How did Robert Change his Swing and cure his slice?
Robert has been working hard on his game for the past 6 months. He had always suffered from a big slice especially with the driver. As you can see in the picture on the left, he had a very steep backswing that caused him to also swing down on a very steep angle. The result was an out-to-in club path and a slice.
As you will see in the "after" pictures, Robert now has a much flatter backswing which allows him to swing down on a better plane. This helps him to hit straighter and longer shots.
If you would like to make improvements to your golf swing as Robert has, please
