Competition Results
Tom Troup played in the Cheshire Under 16s County Championships at Wirral Ladies on Thursday 23rd July. He scored 63 and was placed 3rd overall on a card play off. This is a quite fantastic result and our congratulations go to Tom. Many thanks also to Ollie Lane for chaperoning Tom on the day.
Captains Weekend
The Captains Prize weekend saw a full field on Saturday competing for the 45 places on Sunday. With wonderful weather and bacon butties cooked by the Captain, the outright leader on the day was Luke Foden with an astonishing gross 67, nett 58! In second place was Tom Troup with a nett 63 (again, another great round from Tom) and third place was taken by Mike Fox on nett 67. The rain came on Sunday to make the conditions more tricky but Luke held himself together to take the trophy by 5 shots from Simon Edwards in second place and Mike Fox in third place. A great result from Luke to make it 3 out of 3 for the Foden family.
Ladies Golf Foundation Stableford
Congratulations to Sue Kendrick for winning the Ladies Golf Foundation Stableford with a score of 37 points. Mo Monk came second with 36 and Julie Ricketts third with 35.
Kestrel Cam pays us a flying visit
Duncan and Steve from Kestrel-Cam recently visited the club, with their remote drone, to carry out aerial photography of the course. When the video is complete you will be able to view it from the website and see the course and every hole as you’ve never seen it before! Watch this space.
There are a few photos available to view from the session they spent at the club.
For more information about Kestrel-Cam, you can visit their website at www.kestrel-cam.co.uk.
SKLZ Training Aids
We now have all of our SKLZ training aids on display in the studio. For anyone serious about improving their game, they are definitely worth a look. Over the next few weeks I will be doing a review of some of them.
SKLZ Putting Mirror
Firstly these are great to check your setup consistency. A number of you who have come for putting lessons have had inconsistent setups. This mirror will help you to check your eye position and shoulder alignment.
Secondly, you can put guide pegs through the holes in the mirror to help ensure you are swinging the putter through on the correct arc. There are also two guide pegs that the ball must pass through. If your ball hits one of them, your awareness will be improved as to whether the face of the putter was open or closed.
If you would like to try the SKLZ putting mirror, please come into the shop for a free trial today. Alternatively, click here to book a putting lesson.
